Asociacion Mujeres Ojochal (AMO)

Recently a group of women of Ojochal started with a project to embellish the village of Ojochal. The name of the group is AMO: Asociación de Mujeres de Ojochal. The idea is to make Ojochal more attractive for the inhabitants, as well as for the visitors. On May 16th the project started with a mural, painted by Esteban Camacho, a costarican-american muralist artist from San José, with the help of the youth of Ojochal. The mural represents a huge turtle, appropriate for Playa Tortuga. That same day an Ojoche tree has been planted by the AMO group, near the public library. The Ojoche tree gave its name to Ojochal. Unfortunately there are hardly any ojoches left, but AMO plans to plant many more ojoches. Another goal is to make an ecological park in the center of Ojochal, where the inhabitants and the visitors can take a walk and enjoy the tropical flora of this zone.
